App Development Agency
Most apps get downloaded, opened twice and forgotten. The ones that survive on a home screen do one job quickly and do it better than the browser can. That is the standard we build to: apps with a clear reason to exist, designed around the moment your customer reaches for their phone.
We are a mobile app development company working with UK businesses and founders on iOS, Android and cross platform builds. Native Swift and Kotlin where the project demands it, Flutter or React Native where one codebase serving both stores is the smarter spend. The recommendation is based on your product, not on whichever stack we fancied that month.
We also say the unfashionable thing when it is true: not every business needs an app, and sometimes a fast mobile friendly website is the better answer. When an app is the right call, we take it from idea to the App Store and Google Play on a fixed, written scope, with the launch handled for you.
The problems we hear most
App projects rarely fail in the code. They fail in scoping, honesty and what happens after launch. These are the situations we are usually called into.
You can describe the app in one sentence and you know who would use it, but you have no developers and no way to judge the technical advice you are given. You need a partner who can scope it straight and build it properly.
One agency says a small sum, another quotes ten times more for what sounds like the same app. Without a written scope you are not comparing prices, you are comparing guesses. We fix that with a specification before any figure is final.
Crashes, one star reviews, an agency that vanished after launch or a codebase nobody will touch. An audit tells you honestly whether the app can be rescued or whether a rebuild is cheaper than the repair.
Customers mention it, competitors have one, but the case is fuzzy. Building the wrong thing is the most expensive mistake in this industry, so we start by testing whether an app genuinely beats a good mobile website for your situation.
What an app project includes
From the first workshop to the store listing, these are the parts of the engagement, not optional extras bolted on later.
We define the one job the app must do brilliantly, the features the first version needs and the ones it honestly does not. That focus is what keeps budgets sane.
Wireframes, then clickable prototypes you can test on a real phone before development starts. Changing a screen in a prototype costs minutes. Changing it in code costs days.
Native development in Swift and Kotlin when performance or deep platform features demand it, with both apps built to each store's guidelines from the start.
One codebase, both stores, lower lifetime cost. For most business apps this is the route we recommend, and we explain the trade offs in your scope.
Apps rarely stand alone. We build the servers, databases, APIs and the admin panel your team uses to manage content, users and orders behind the scenes.
Developer accounts, store listings, screenshots, review submissions and release management, all handled. You approve the build, we get it published.
From idea to the app stores
A working session on your idea, users and goals. If a mobile website would serve you better than an app, this is where we tell you, in writing.
Screens, features, platforms and integrations defined in a specification, with a fixed price in pounds attached. You commit to a document, not a vague pitch.
You test a clickable prototype on your own phone and put it in front of real users before a line of production code is written.
Development runs in short cycles with test builds delivered through TestFlight and Google Play testing tracks, so you watch the app take shape on a real device.
Straight answers.
On price, we explain what drives it and put a fixed figure in writing after your free audit.
Honestly, sometimes the website wins. If customers visit occasionally and mostly need information or a simple booking, a fast mobile friendly site is cheaper to build, easier to maintain and has no download barrier. An app earns its place when people will use it repeatedly, when you need push notifications, offline use or device features like the camera, or when logged in customers are at the heart of the product. We help you make that call before you spend anything.
Cost is driven by the number of screens, whether you need one platform or both, the backend behind the app, integrations with payment or third party systems, and how much design work is involved. Rather than a vague range, we hold a scoping call and then send a written, fixed quote in pounds for the whole build. The figure you approve is the figure you pay, with no hourly surprises mid project.
For most business apps we recommend cross platform, using Flutter or React Native, because one codebase serving iOS and Android roughly halves the build and every future update. Native Swift or Kotlin still wins for games, heavy real time graphics or deep hardware integration. Our app developers work across both approaches, so the recommendation in your scope is based on the product, not on the only tool we happen to know.
A focused first version typically takes a few months from kick off to the stores, including design, development, testing and the review process at Apple and Google. Bigger products take longer. Your specification includes a realistic timeline with the store review period built in, because a flattering estimate that ignores Apple's review queue helps nobody.
Yes, fully. We set up or use your Apple Developer and Google Play Console accounts, prepare listings, screenshots and privacy declarations, submit the builds and deal with any reviewer questions or rejections until the app is live. The accounts sit in your name, so you keep control of your own product and its store presence.
Apps are not finished at launch. Apple and Google ship operating system updates every year, devices change and users report things no test caught. We offer month to month support covering monitoring, fixes, OS compatibility updates and small improvements. If you would rather take it in house, you own the code and accounts outright, and the handover documentation is written for exactly that.
Often, yes. As an app development company that inherits other people's work regularly, we start with a paid audit of the codebase, backend and store accounts, then give you a straight answer: stabilise and improve what exists, or rebuild because the repair would cost more than starting again. You get that assessment in writing, with reasons, before deciding anything. Drivix Digital is part of the Drivix Group, so the team behind the audit is the team that would do the work.
